The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

The morning of June 27th found me walking on one of numerous trails along the very pleasant river associated with the creator of searing depths, but along nine miles the land seemed all too ordinary. I must have walked another ten miles before anything seemed remotely out of place.

My feet kept on their insistent adventuring and soon laid pressure upon an open field that resembled a death field imposed by an unseen fiery influence. The grease weed and bunches of grass laid plain and rudely inattentive to my presence. And upon crouching and a light touch, soon I found no proof of a scorched earth.

The nearby slopes and partial ravines looked scarred, as if the hot centre of a torch blasted its satanic insult, wiping out any resemblence of vegetation. And yet, the evidence of an occurrence remained quiet and almost cold to the touch, including being void of decent courtesy, if any.

Within my mind, a memory sprung. Whether this memory will serve me or destroy me is beyond my own vision; although the blinding nature of adrenalized interest arrests me, and the story prevails.

Northwest of Hoverton, near the hellishly carved edges of the Sheverton River, is a series of deep holes of varying depths weathering into the walking path, which seem all too eager to swallow the unfortunate steps of inattentive hikers. The gaping mouths of earth resemble the pores of the aging face of a town once known for its gaiety, youthful exuberance and abundance.

Instead, treachery awaits the most dedicated adventurer.

The last time I visited the River — known as Hell’s Ravine — it was part of the Major Lakes. Since that last visit, the specific roads leading to this river lay blanketed due to nature’s weathered coverup. The townsfolk from Hoverton maintain that this liquid artery bleeds from the arm of the Dark One, thereby announcing a local assumption - or superstition, depending on one’s view — that the river is haunted, but by what or whom is not entirely clear.

The tales explain the range from the gruesome to the macabre and markedly sinister. These suggestive hand-me-down stories have shaken up my curiosity to unbearable levels, therefore necessitating an unplanned journey and successfully uninstalling me from my ordinary life.

The room I occupied held concealed secrets and naked revelations, none of which spoke loud enough to assist me in formulating an honest report.

Instead, a swath of random information collected in me and took on a most mischievous twist - a twist, except the very means in which it contorted itself into a sudden singular suspended thought.

How it became a powerful force of its own and within the confines of my physical existence drove my mind into dimensions beyond the fabric of previously achieved mindfulness.

Shapes, many of which followed no semblance of guidance other than the strength of light enforcing them, gathered around, and threatened to consume me inside a collective embrace.

Sudden pressure from everything in this room suffocated me, thus scattering my ability to register comprehension, and gain proper control of a sudden, terrifying moment.

Words beyond my senses drifted between my ears, sifting between my mental hemispheres.

And therein awoke a most deadly design.
